Update 18.7: In terms of TOCs, we have no TOC.

Heyo. Update to the PDF following the last devlog.

I've been running into technical issues with Affinity Publisher 2 and I was unfortunately not paranoid enough to keep fully up-to-date backups between literally every version update (also, the last update was in 2024, so I should have probably made backups anyway!), and none of my efforts could salvage the working versions or previous backups in a timely manner, so this release is a separate PDF with updated gameplay content but no functional Table of Contents. Since there's some actual gameplay content in here, I figure I might as well just bite the bullet.

My deepest apologies to everybody reading, and I'll endeavor to make sure I have better backups in the future.

  • Fixed some minor typos in the Enemy listing.
  • Implemented some Japanese changes to reduce wealth/power disparities between characters of the same level, primarily by removing the ability to indefinitely delay leveling.
    • Adventure Rewards: Characters at CL 15 or higher can't willingly trade CLs for Patchwork Wish Stars twice in a row. Those below this level range still can't trade for Patchwork Wish Stars period.
    • CL Adjustments: Decreasing CL for the duration of an adventure no longer causes you to forfeit the right to level at the end of an adventure.
    • Special Attachments: Allowed 100 Attachment Coupons to be traded for 1 Special Attachment Coupon (once per character.)
  • Implemented a Japanese change allowing unneeded items to be stored at the Merchants' Guild for later retrieval. This was more or less something people might've assumed (especially homeowner characters) but it's canonized now!
  • Added Silver Idolic Coins, renamed Idolic Coins to "Gold Idolic Coins"; the Japanese name didn't change but the "gold" distinction didn't seem important at the time. Now that Silver Idolic Coins exist, the distinction does matter.
  • Added Challenge Skills, an optional difficulty system for Named Enemies and Demonarchs which awards Silver Idolic Coins if the enemy is defeated after a Challenge Skill has been activated. Each player may choose either...
    • (Highest enemy CL / 10) Silver Idolic Coins
    • (Highest enemy CL / 10) Champion Medals (see Long Live Azuma)
    • (Highest enemy CL / 10) Attachment Coupons
    • (Highest enemy CL * 20) GP
    • If the players' CL total exceeds the highest enemy CL by 20 or more, the GP reward is the only option.
    • Some of these Challenge Skills are unbelievably punishing. Be very wary about implementing them in your games!
    • Therian Idols, despite being Named Enemies, have not had Challenge Skills implemented.
  • Started localizing デス子 (Desuko, a diminutive name based on "Death") as "Dessie" instead of "Death-babe"/"Death-baby".
    • Most instances of this are in currently unreleased Main Adventure content, but there is one place in the current public text where it's used. This is probably where this little nickname is going to stay for the foreseeable future since it sounds like an actual English-appropriate nickname and not just some awkward portmanteau?
